About Our Job
Denver Therapeutic Recreation - Denver Parks and Recreation offers community-based therapeutic recreation programs for citizens with disabilities to develop physical, mental, emotional, social and leisure skills necessary to participate in a continuum of activities which will enhance their well-being.
The City & County of Denver's Department of Recreation is seeking interns to join our team to gain experience in planning, organizing, leading and evaluating various recreation programs. Therapeutic Recreation Internships are available throughout the year. The length of the internship is 15 weeks, 39 hours/week (including weekends and nights), resulting in 600 total working hours. Fall Internship 2023
Duration: August/September - December 2023

About You
Our Ideal Candidate will have/be:
- Currently enrolled in Therapeutic Recreation or Adaptive Recreation
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
- Organizing and implementing Therapeutic Recreation programming for participants of all ages and abilities
- Coordinating special events
- Producing informational flyers and promotional materials
- Providing office support assistance
- Participate in program staff & participant meetings
- Provide program staff assistance
- Leading Therapeutic Recreation based activities/programs
- Administering assessments, develop goals and objectives, documentation, and complete discharge summaries based on the Therapeutic Recreation model
- General office, data entry and computer support (such as Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned

- Education requirement: Current enrollment in a college program leading to a Bachelor's specific to the departmental and/or work assignment
- Continued enrollment in a college program is condition of employment with the City
