Clean Energy Ventures, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a Sr. Project Controls Specialist to lead project support team on project oversight, confirmation and process for engineering, construction and the implementation of multiple commercial solar, midstream pipeline, storage and EV projects in execution of the Clean Energy Ventures project plan. Develop and implement program standards and oversee project process and transitions for midstream and solar assets.
Major Responsibilities:
• Create processes for project teams and subcontractors for reviewing project status and submitting collateral materials, designs, punch lists, construction reports, inspections, photos, financial and contract documents.
• Manage project reporting functions to ensure transparency and inform stakeholders.
• Lead a team of project controls professionals in scheduling and cost tracking and report for the construction of various projects
• Build productive relationships with suppliers, customers and other external players to advance the Clean Energy Ventures strategy
• Assist with the preparation of various reports and presentations for senior leaders
• Maintain effective internal and external contacts; work in the spirit of cooperation that fosters teamwork and a sense of responsibility
• Work with various departments to develop and maintain operational processes
• Improve competencies using scheduling software tools and knowledge of databases, software configurations and maintenance needs
• Provide expertise and innovation regarding methodologies, technologies and techniques to improve internal processes; communicate value to project teams
• Lead and develop project scheduling and baselines with the full project team (development, engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, etc.), and communicate changes and track progress
• Develop program scheduling and assume overall responsibility to evaluate and understand the full portfolio of projects being deployed :
o Coordinate schedule with internal and contractor teams, to ensure on schedule completion
o Track and analyze the schedule and alert team of any critical path changes and potential resolutions to the changes using the software and working with the customers
o Prepare summary-level schedules for proposed projects to determine overall project duration, general conditions, and equipment needs
o Establish sequencing, durations and general logic for the development, design and construction of a project
• Validates and ensures that schedule logic, float values and critical path are sound and realistic and ensures lead project personnel understand critical path activities and near-critical activities
• Ensure adherence to schedule format such that coding or filtering activities will produce separate schedules, including summary, detailed, structure, façade or any other scope of work pertaining to the project.
• Ensure consistency in code titles and activity trade assignments in all schedules
• Develop, and maintain and reporting of cost/resource loaded schedules for development, design and construction related projects
• Proactively monitors progress; identifies and analyzes trends and advises PM/CM accordingly; helps plan recovery schedules when necessary
• Developing WBS and project coding structures using Primavera software
• Maintain project budget and forecast spending plans
• Provide proposal support to include schedules, reports, cost analysis, and other Primavera supporting functions
• Beginner to intermediate level knowledge with some experience performing data gathering in support of Forensic Schedule Analysis
• Train team members in project controls and scheduling software, project management principals, innovative techniques and process best practices
• Perform progress/schedule updates by conducting site walk-throughs to update actual information
Position Specifications:
• Bachelor's degree required, engineering preferred
• Professional engineering certification or master's degree in business/construction management a plus
• Minimum of eight years of project controls experience
• Advanced knowledge of MS Project User
• Expert competency in schedule and cost control
• Excellent communication and project management skills
