General Summary
The HR Generalist is responsible for providing support to the human resources and management processes, with a significant focus in the areas of employee relations, talent acquisition, onboarding, administration of company policy, and business partnering.
Essential Job Functions
- Recruits and pre-screens job seekers for technical and professional job openings. Works with managers to identify the best qualified applicants and schedule interviews. Participates in interviews as requested. Extends offers of employment to selected candidates. Recruiting will involve the use of an applicant tracking system and the ability to teach and guide hiring managers on the hiring process.
- Responsible for handling HR issues and general human resource services to the employee population, answering HR related inquiries while maintaining in-depth knowledge of company policy, legal requirements, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Works with management to establish performance improvement plans for employees.
- Ensures legal compliance as it relates to employment and government contracts.
- Discusses benefit package. Coordinates drug screen and background checks. Extends offers of employment and negotiates as necessary.
- Conducts employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Provides support in organizing training and development initiatives.
- Responsible for maintaining employee records in electronic and paper form.
- Prepares ad hoc and periodic reporting.
- Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, and government regulations.
- Serves as site liaison to other corporate human resource functions such as compensation, benefits, Workers' Comp, FMLA, short/long term disability, etc.
- Must be capable of safely handling government-furnished equipment and materials.
- Must be available to work a standard weekly schedule with overtime as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to clearly communicate and influence, verbally and written.
- Ability to interact effectively with and motivate professional, managerial, and direct labor personnel.
- Effective time management and planning ability.
- Capable of working independently with good decision -making skills.
- Strong computer (Microsoft Office) and HRIS experience required.
- Strong applicant tracking system experience required. Experience with Deltek Talent Management preferred.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance when required by the contract.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Human Resources Management, or closely related field or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in an HR Generalist Role with concentration in talent acquisition.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Experience with a government contractor preferred.
- Current HRCI or SHRM certification such as PHR, SPHR , SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP preferred.
